SDRL is licensed and fulfills the requirements of the State of California for the licensing of Methadone Laboratories in accordance with the provisions of the California Health and Safety Code and by the regulations contained in the California Code of Regulations, Title 17.

In addition to our California-based clients, SDRL provides methadone drug testing services for treatment clinics as far away as Washington, Vermont, Florida and Texas and in twenty-five other states throughout the country.

Samples are submitted to SDRL in a 45mL vial that is certified drug-free by the manufacturer and opened for the first time at the clinic. We provide each facility with urine collection procedures in writing prior to submission to the laboratory for testing. The samples are tracked throughout the complete testing process with a unique barcode number.

The initial screening procedure is performed on fully automated instrumentation utilizing immunoassay methodology. The testing for Amphetamines, Barbiturates, Benzodiazepines, Buprenorphine, Cocaine, Fentanyl, MDMA/MDA (Ecstasy), Methadone, Methadone Metabolite (EDDP), Opiates, Oxycodone, Phencyclidine, Propoxyphene (PPX) and THC are based on using specific antibodies for the determination of the presence of each drug. The screening test for Ethyl Alcohol is an enzymatic reaction that measures the change in absorbency based on the concentration of ethyl alcohol. Customized drug panels are built to each client’s specific requirements.

In most cases, specimen results are provided within 24 hours of receipt and delivered via facsimile, SFTP or posted to SDRL’s client-secure web site for immediate access.

Samples are routinely stored for clients for 30 days after collection. During this time abnormal urine samples can be re-tested or confirmed using Thin Layer Chromatography (TLC) or Gas Chromatography / Mass Spectrometry (GC/MS) confirmation methodologies, providing cutoff values and more specific data than the initial immunoassay screen. Confirmation results are usually available with 24-48 hours after initial screening is complete.

All specimen collection containers, labels and packaging/shipping materials are provided by SDRL. Contact us for more information.
